Hoop houses are a thing here on the farm for many reasons. The biggest one is it extends the season for crops like butternut squash that take longer to grow that our growing season! Our pro-beds needed it’s hoop house up sooner than later so Mr. Maintenance Man and I went to work.

We had originally built four boxes that were not really uniform in placement so we had a few challenges, but nothing terrible. I found this as a picture on pintrest and then drew it on paper.

The enternce is on the east side of the hoop house because our prevailing winds come from the northwest.

The bottom is still not finished but will have corrigated metal on it.

And this is where we are at now. I have one bed without hail cloth but we have not had much in the way of hail or rain recently.
Will you have traditional crops also?
Eventually, I would like to grow barley just to try it, but no commodity crops.
